Billericay Meeting is part of Mid Essex Quakers.
We meet in stillness and quiet, waiting for direct experience of the Divine. We have no planned sermons, hymns, or prayers. Anyone may speak spontaneously if moved to share ministry, after which silence resumes, fostering a deep sense of shared spiritual connection. Our worship may take us beyond our own thoughts and ideas to help us respond more creatively to the world around us.
Note: We now meet at 10:45 instead of 10:30.
Do we act on our good intentions?
What happens if they go wrong? Are we forgiven? Can we forgive ourselves?

Do we bring out troubles and concerns to Meeting for Worship and lay them in the gathered stillness?
We were reminded of these words from the hymn "What a friend we have in Jesus."
Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer!

We reflected on the words of this psalm prayer from the work of Thomas Merton:
I beg you to keep me in this silence so that I may learn
from it.
The word of your peace
And the word of your mercy
And the word of your gentleness to the world:
And that through me perhaps your word of peace
may make itself heard
Where it has not been possible for anyone to hear it
for a long time.
